Hometown residents of Purcellville, the husband-wife team of Tom Messegee and Dr. Amy Messegee bring more than 40 years combined industry experience applying the math and science that students learn every day.
Dr. Amy Messegee
Dr. Messegee, formerly Dr. Amy Vanderbilt, holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Florida. Early in her career, Dr. M was a professor of Mathematics at Xavier University in Cincinnati. She then spent more than a decade applying math, science and engineering to the defense and commercial technology industries both at home and around the world. Her research and development has earned her a tour as program manager at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), appointments to the NATO Network of Experts and the honorary title of Senior Fellow at the Potomac Institute. She has now returned to her first love – teaching mathematics.
Mr. Thomas Messegee
Mr. Messegee holds a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering and an Professional Engineer certification. A veteran of the United States Navy’s Nuclear Power program, he turned his career towards defense and aerospace. He has more than 30 years experience in applying math, science and engineering to space-based and ground-based systems of all kinds and has now returned to impart his love of these subjects to Purcellville’s hometown students.
Between the two of them, this husband-wife team has more than 40 years combined experience, 6 degrees and certifications, and 5 children.
